Boxford Holland lamp

Vintage SMC Boxford Holland Halogen table desk lamp designed by Robert Sonneman in 1980. The lamp has a post-modern design and has  a perfect working dimmer/switch in the middle of the heavy base. 
 
The piece clearly takes its design cues from the ringed planet of the same name. The lamp features a circular glass shade that has a very light green tint,
which sits beneath a round perforated black metal dome.
 
In the early 1980s, design took on a fresh look inspired by Ettore Sottsass and the Memphis Group. They introduced new shapes, patterns, and materials, pushing the boundaries of lighting and furniture.
